Wife, Mother, Nurse, follower of Jesus, and lover of all things homegrown and handmade.
Welcome to Simply Homemade by Linklater Acres. I’m glad you’ve found your way here!
Living in rural Washington State, I have grown to love and appreciate all things homemade and handmade. From the food we eat, to the products we consume, and the gifts we give- there is something beautiful about from-scratch cooking, locally sourced goods, and making things with your own two hands.
Linklater Acres was born out of a desire to share lessons learned and exciting projects with other like-minded individuals who are seeking a more sustainable way of life. The name Linklater Acres is a tribute to my Great Grandma and Grandpa Linklater. We are the third generation to live on this land, and garden in this soil. As a child, we would visit this property nearly every summer. I have fond memories of helping in the garden here and baking homemade cinnamon rolls with my great grandma.
As a nurse, the pandemic made me realize the fragility of the world we live in today. Growing up hunting, fishing, gardening and preserving our own food, I have always appreciated the value of self-sufficiency and simple living. Now more than ever I realize the importance of locally grown food, and natural living. This last year I canned hundreds of jars of homegrown or locally sourced produce, created several homemade gifts, and started my own sourdough. I am constantly learning new recipes and skills and feel compelled to share those lessons with others.
If a from-scratch meal, homemade craft, or garden harvest gets you excited-Welcome! You have certainly found the right place for all things “simply homemade.”
