30-Minutes or Less: Face & Body Crochet Scrubbies
These flower-shaped crochet face and body scrubbies can be whipped up in 30-minutes or less! They are soft but exfoliating to the skin and look adorable too!
Materials
- Any color 4-Ply worsted weight 100% cotton yarn (I like the Peaches & Cream options available at Walmart. They are cost effective and come in a variety of colors).
- 5mm Crochet Hook
Instructions
- Start by making a magic ring.
- Chain 3. This counts as a double crochet.
- Complete 11 double crochets in the magic ring. This should give you 12 total stitches.
- Slip stitch to join to the top of the first stitch (top of chain of 3).
- Chain 2.
- Puff stitch in the same stitch.
- Chain 1
- Complete puff stitches in the remaining stitches around, totaling 12 puff stitches.
- Slip stitch to the top of the first puff stitch to join.
- Skip the stitch you have just joined.
- Complete 5 double crochets in the next chain space.
- Skip the next stitch and then slip stitch in the next chain space.
- Complete Steps 11-12 until you work your way around. This should create 6 petals.
- Tie off.
- Use a yarn needle to tuck in the end strands.
Notes
I have made several crochet facial/body and kitchen scrubbies over the past few years. Not only are these super practical in your own home, but they make a great gift!
I found that some of the previous patterns I used would not sit flat after I washed them. No matter how many times I tried to adjust (using a bigger/smaller crochet hook, adding stitches into the pattern), I couldn't quite get it right. Then, I started playing around with flower patterns. Not only do I think offer a cute feminine vibe, they also stay flat after running them through the washing machine.
These are a great little project, that doesn't take too much time or effort. I appreciate being able to sit down after my daughter goes to bed and complete a little project at the end of the day. Once I made a few, I could easily knock a few of these out while watching a show on TV or visiting with my family since the pattern doesn't require a lot of counting or complexity.
Last year, these were a great stocking stuffer or small gift, especially when paired with a bar of homemade soap! I found that stacking 3 together and tying a little twine with a bow on top easily leveled up the appearance of them, which was a low-cost, low-effort way to finish them off!
